Come see FANTA, Chuck and the ComiXology gang at SPX this weekend. Fanta and Chuck are exhibiting at the show and ComiXology has kindly sponsored YOUR Igantz Awards Ceremony for this year!
Fantagraphics and comiXology give you one of hottest books of 2013, the soon to be sold out The End of the Fucking World by Charles Forsman. The story follows James and Alyssa, two teenagers living a seemingly typical teen experience as they face the fear of coming adulthood. Forsman tells their story through each character’s perspective, jumping between points of view with each chapter. But quickly, this somewhat familiar teenage experience takes a more nihilistic turn as James’s character exhibits a rapidly forming sociopathy that threatens both of their futures. He harbors violent fantasies and begins to act on them, while Alyssa remains as willfully ignorant for as long as she can, blinded by young love.
Forsman’s story highlights the disdain, fear and existential search that many teenagers fear, but through a road trip drama that owes as much to Badlands as The Catcher in the Rye. Forsman’s inviting, Charles Schulz-influenced style lends a deadpan quality that underscores the narrative’s tension. The End of the Fucking World is certain to be one of the most talked-about graphic novels of 2013.
Only $14.99 for the full series, 158 pages of pure genius! Issue 16 of the original series is also up for a 2013 Ignatz Award Nominee: Outstanding Minicomic this weekend!
I’ll take it.
If you can’t tell, we’re kinda crazy about about this book over here.

Shane’s Picks of the Week (9/11/13)
- PICK OF THE WEEK: TEOTFW - This is one of strangest graphic novels I’ve read in a while. Simplistic yet wholly engrossing and definitely unpredictable. Also, rumor has it that TEOTFW is in the process of being turned into a web series, so that’s pretty neat!
- East of West vol. 1: The Promise - I’ve been wanting to get into this series for so long, but I just haven’t had the time. Well that time is now! Very exciting. Hickman has been everywhere lately, eh?
- FBP: Federal Bureau of Physics #3 - The last issue ended with quite the twist, and I’m so stoked on the concept of alternate universes, that doesn’t have to do with time travel.
- X-Men #5 - Speaking of time travel! I’m kind of crazy about Battle of the Atom so far, and it’s probably because Jason Aaron had a large part in coming up with the event, and I sure do love anything Jason Aaron touches. Even if you’re not caught up with the whole X-Men universe, this event is a great place to jump in!
Shane is the marketing assistant at comiXology and is attempting to grow a glorious beard just like his hero Jason Aaron.
