With 4 Eisner award nominations for his work on Fatale, Sean Phillips is a busy guy. Luckily he took time to answer a few questions for us before tonight’s big ceremony.
1. When were you first inspired to make comics and what book set you on the path to becoming a creator?
It’s just something I’ve always done for fun. I turned pro when I was 15, so I’ve never thought about doing anything else.
2. If you weren’t making comics right now, what other occupation would you most like to see yourself in?
I dunno, washing cars? Comics is all I’ve ever done, so I’m totally inexperienced at anything else.
3. If you could have dinner with any other comic creator living or dead, who would it be and why?
John Buscema, just to tell him how much his art made me want to draw comics. At his best, nobody could touch him.
4. If you could GIVE an Eisner award to another creator working today who would it be and why?
Duncan Fegredo, because he’s the best cartoonist out there, and totally under-rated except by some of his peers.
5. If you do win, where are you going to keep the award?
I managed to break the last one I won, so it’s probably best if I don’t win anymore!
