These three pages from #9 pretty much sum up Letter 44 so far.

If you haven’t started it yet, get on it

imthegdbatman asked:

I actually wouldn’t recommend Batman Eternal to someone who hasn’t been reading the Batbooks for a while…

I know. I know. I’m not just a mindless comics slinger.

But really if you want to get back into the bat, there’s no better place to start than Scott Snyder’s current run. The first two arcs were some of the best comics to come out of the new 52, and I personally really enjoyed Zero Year which just wrapped up.

And you just want like a random recommendation of something you may not have heard of outside of Marvel & DC? Sure. I won’t sleep until everyone is reading Letter 44 by Charles Soule, so go check that out.

Kate Kasenow recommends She-Hulk #5

I have been waiting a long while to tell you guys all about the newest She-Hulk series and now the time has finally come! The series is already on its fifth issue, but things are just getting started for newly self-employed lawyer Jennifer Walters, AKA the sensational She-Hulk.

This issue is written by brilliant series writer Charles Soule, drawn by the phenomenal Ron Wimberly (d3-14), and colored by the vivid Rico Renzi, but I’d also like to give a shout-out to series cover artist Kevin Wada (kevinwada) for capturing the essence of each issue perfectly! Issue #5 focuses on the beginning of Jen’s quest for information on the mysterious blue file. While the case has been hinted at throughout the series, we are just now digging in for what looks like a wild search for the truth.

One of the greatest achievements of this series is letting go of stereotypical superhero antics and focusing on just what it takes to balance reality with super-powered responsibility. The life of a superhero may never be normal, but the She-Hulk team has done a fantastic job of making this world feel real. The action is intense as well as fun while story soars through witty dialogue.

Carrying the entire story is a fantastic female cast. Alongside She-Hulk is the vivacious Pasty Walker, AKA Hellcat, and Angie Huang as Jen’s super paralegal. All three of these fabulous ladies are tough without losing their femininity, caring without losing their wit, and not one of them hesitates to be themselves whether in court or in the face of Dr. Doom.

These are only a few reasons that everyone should jump into this series stat!

comiXology Summer Reading List Day 11: Letter 44 #1

Letter 44 by Charles Soule and Alberto Jimenez Alburquerque is one of my favorite books of the past year. Big thanks to onipress for making this FREE for the day!

There’s something up there. As newly elected President Stephen Blades reads the letter left for him in the Oval Office by his predecessor, he learns this stunning secret: seven years earlier, NASA discovered an alien construction project in the asteroid belt. A crew of heroic astronauts was sent to investigate, and they’re nearing the conclusion of their epic journey. Don’t miss the first chapter in this thrilling tale of real-world space travel, intrigue, and secret histories!

You know when you wake up, and the week feels like it couldn’t possibly get any longer, but then you realize it’s #NewComicDay and everything is going to be alright? Today is one of those days. Here are my picks for the week:

Saga vol. 3 - So much insanity happened in this last arc that I really can’t wait to go back and re-read all of it. If you’re one of the few that hasn’t jumped on the Saga bandwagon, now is a good chance to get all the way caught up before the new issue comes out in May. PS luv u oswald d heist.
Thor: God of Thunder #20 -  Did you see how #19 ended?!?! Who’s ready to see Old Thor vs. Galactus. This guys is. That’s who!
Sex Criminals #5 -I’ll be the first to admit SexCrims4 fell a bit flat for me, but I just finished reading #5 and I guess the refractory period is over #ifyaknowwhatimsayin
Zero #6 - Ugh, just read Zero already, will ya? I can’t explain it, just take my word for it. And pay close attention TO EVERYTHING.
Ms. Marvel #2 - gwillow has the next comic book juggernaut on her hands, i tell u what. Issue #1 was so much fun, I can’t wait to read #2.
Letter 44 #5 - I heard so much buzz when this book first came out, but haven’t heard much since, but let me tell you something… THIS BOOK IS INCREDIBLE! It’s only 5 issues in so you can go and get caught up during your lunch break or something. Go!
