Wednesday, to everyone else it’s Humpday, the middle of the week, the bottom of the doldrum-pit that is the weekly grind, but to all of us comic fans it’s the shining beacon of hope and ecstasy that is #NewComicDay! Here are the books gettin’ us all riled up today:

Silver Surfer #1 - Is this the most anticipated All-New Marvel NOW comic to come out this year? All that matters is that I get to see some Mike Allred space action goodness.
The Wake #7 - You can pretty much just rest assured at this point that whatever weeks the Wake comes out, it will be on my list. Please get caught up on this series so we can talk about it. #friendship
Iron Patriot #1 -aleskot! Are we friends yet? Pretty stoked to pick this one up, especially since I know you and kellysue collaborated a bit.
The Bunker #2 -  The best TV show that is actually a comic you can pick up right now. Only two issues in! Go!
The Sandman: Overture #2 - The wait is finally over. Even if I couldn’t read at all I could still look at the art in this book and be mesmerized.
Hawkeye #18 - It’s a Kate Issue…/ITS A KATE ISSUE! (This reminds me of Lost and “Kate Episodes”)
Deadpool #26 - These flashback issues have been a lot of fun, and even though I’m really excited to get to the big wedding issue coming up next, I see Cable (and uh… an enraged Hitler?) on the cover of this one and can’t wait to read it.
Rat Queens vol. 1: Sass and Sorcery - If you’re not reading this (or planning to) I assume you just woke up from a coma and this is your first time on Tumblr. Love u kurtiswiebe and johnnyrocwell

Check these out and all the other new releases available today on comiXology!

comiXology Unbound's #LongReads↳Saga of the Swamp Thing: Book One

Before WATCHMEN, Alan Moore made his debut in the U.S. comic book industry with the revitalization of the horror comic book THE SWAMP THING. His deconstruction of the classic monster stretched the creative boundaries of the medium and became one of the most spectacular series in comic book history. With modern-day issues explored against a backdrop of horror, SWAMP THING’s stories became commentaries on environmental, political and social issues, unflinching in their relevance.SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING BOOK ONE collects issues #20-27 of this seminal series including the never-before-reprinted SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING #20, where Moore takes over as writer and concludes the previous storyline. Book One begins with the story “The Anatomy Lesson,” a haunting origin story that reshapes SWAMP THING mythology with terrifying revelations that begin a journey of discovery and adventure that will take him across the stars and beyond.

Friends, we’d never let you down.

Especially if you were looking for something new to read. Or even if you were #newtocomics and stumbled upon this rad Tumblr page.

A new strain of vampire has emerged—much more vicious than the traditional variety. Scott Snyder and Stephen King set fire to the horror genre with a visionary, all-original take on one of the most popular monster stories, as they trace the creatures’ bloodline through decades of American history!

comiXolgy Unbound's Weekend #comicbinge
Sweet Tooth by Jeff Lemire

I LOVE anything post-apocalyptic, and have always thought people look better with horns, so when I first stumbled across Sweet Tooth in college, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I never read it all in one go though, so thats the plan tonight. SWEET TOOTH #COMICBINGE!

A cross between Bambi and Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, SWEET TOOTH tells the story of Gus, a rare new breed of human/animal hybrid children, has been raised in isolation following an inexplicable pandemic that struck a decade earlier. Now, with the death of his father he’s left to fend for himself … until he meets a hulking drifter named Jepperd who promises to help him. Jepperd and Gus set out on a post-apocalyptic journey into the devastated American landscape to find ‘The Preserve’ a refuge for hybrids.

The man, the myth, the legend, Brian K. Vaughan! The first volume of his comic Ex Machina has just been collected and is the #LateNightReads for tonight! Book One collects issues #1-11 for just $12.99.

Set in our modern-day world, EX MACHINA tells the story of civil engineer Mitchell Hundred, who becomes America’s first living, breathing super-hero after a strange accident gives him the power to communicate with machines. Eventually Mitchell tires of risking his life merely to maintain the status quo, retires from masked crime fighting and runs for mayor of New York City, winning by a landslide after the events of 9/11.

AMC is adapting Preacher

The network is teaming with This Is the End duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and Breaking Bad’s Sam Catlin to adapt Vertigo’s Preacher, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. ’
Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s 1990s comic series from DC Comics imprint Vertigo, Preacher revolves around Rev. Jesse Custer, a badass Texas preacher who, after losing his faith, learns that God has left heaven and forsaken his duties. Jesse becomes the only one who is able to track God down and hold him responsible for his abdication. Tulip O’Hare, Jesse’s beer-guzzling vampire ex-girlfriend, accompanies him on his quest for answers. But the story doesn’t end there: The Saint of Killers, an immortal killing machine and Western lone gunman type, is hot on their trail with his sights set on Jesse. (via)

This has potential to be amazing.

Be that friend who rubs it in everyone’s face that they read the source material first!   High-res
